Next month is August – 31 days. What a great choice of month to ramp up your blogging efforts by going through the Build a Better Blog in 31 Days by Darren Rowse ebook! If you have not picked it up yet, you should. It’s one of the few ebooks I ever purchased that I actually printed out and scribbled in the margins, put into a folder and actually hang on to.
So here’s what we’ll do – I will post a recap of the blogging tips each day either here or on Examiner where I am the National Blogging Examiner. We’ll leave links in the comment to our daily postings and can visit eachother’s blogs. Plus, of course, at the end of the month we’ll have explored 31 great ways to build up our blogs and websites.
Want in? All you need is a copy of Build a Better Blog in 31 Days if you don’t have one yet (affiliate link) and leave a comment to let me know you’re in. Subscribe to my posts at Blogging Examiner and we’ll go through one lesson every day.

I’m in!!!! Can you explain RSS feeds to me (again)? Thanks, Robin
AngEngland says
If you have a blog reader – many email programs like yahoo or google have them available on their personalized home pages that you can set up, you would input the URL of the feed OR when you click in the orange RSS icon select the blog reader program from the list of options and log in and you’ll be subscribed automatically.
I personally find it easier to subscribe via email which you can do by clicking the blue “+” symbol where it says “subscribe” and entering your email address. Then you’ll just an email to your inbox every time I publish something.

Hi, Angela. Count me in. I just purchased the “31 Days to a Better Blog” ebook last night. Just finished my 1st day assignment, the “elevator pitch” 🙂
Jody says
Hey Ang. I bought this e-book when Darren did the first 31 days. I made it through a week- then we relocated and I fell behind so I quit. I’ve been meaning to do the series- thanks for giving me the opportunity to join in!
AngEngland says
oh that’s perfect! It’ll be great to work through it together…the pressure will keep me accountable. 😉
Jill Browne says
OK, not sure what August looks like for me, but from a distance, looks like I’ll have the time… (famous last words)… so, I’m in! I may already have the book. If not, I’ll be baaaccckkkk.
Paris Franz says
This sounds like fun. Good timing, too, as I’ve just started some blogs. I’m in.
AngEngland says
Perfect timing then! 🙂

I have actually started working through this book with another group of bloggers within my specific niche (pet bloggers). We’re about 5 days in right now, though not necessarily doing a different/new task every day. So far it’s been really illuminating and fun too. I’m looking forward to starting the same process here. It should be interesting (and informative) to compare notes between the two groups. I hope you don’t mind if I pass on any tips I learn here to the other group and vice versa 🙂
AngEngland says
Yes please! I’d love to hear insights from niche bloggers. 🙂
Amie Sugat says
I’ll follow your tips, but I cant afford that book right now, not yet anyway.
AngEngland says
Amie – We won’t be starting until August 1st so you have time. While I absolutely recommend picking up the book at some point, it wouldn’t be necessary to get SOMETHING out of the challenge. Everyone is welcome to join in! 🙂
Mary@Everyday Baby Steps says
I didn’t know you scored a national Examiner gig! Yay, you so rock, Angela I’m proud of you. We will celebrate at Type-A, baby! I’ll be joining in with you here on the challenge, since I failed miserably on it last year. Can’t wait.
Angel says
I’ll give it a try! 🙂
Andrea (Lil-Kid-Things) says
Planning to follow along but won’t be able to get the book just yet either. I just heard about it yesterday but it sounds promising!
Jennifer says
I’m in. Just bought my book. Glad I have a few days to get myself in gear before the challenge starts. Really having a serious case of the post-vacation, post-weekend blahs. A kick in the pants will do me some good.
Rohi says
Yes, I’m in.
Rosalie says
I am in! I look forward to learning from the best.
Gillian says
I’m in! I’ve bought the book and have a couple of blogs set up but which never got started. Great time to do some work on them.
LauraP says
I’ve had the book for a while but haven’t dived in. Thanks for the push!
Dana aka Frugalistic Mama says
I don’t have a book bu I would love to be in!!
AngEngland says
You can definitely join in without having a copy of the book but you’ll get a lot more out of it if you have your own copy of the book. I’ve found it a great resource that I’ve come back to quite a few times since I purchased it a year ago. Tag along until you’re able to pick up your copy – you’ll still get a lot from the consistency of it.
ami says
Hope it’s not too late to join the party. Heather Solos sent me 🙂
AngEngland says
Absolutely NOT too late. Day One post is on Examiner (http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-52857-Blogging-Examiner~y2010m8d2-Write-an-Elevator-Pitch-for-Your-Blog–Build-a-Better-Blog-Day-One) but because of lack of comment love we’re moving daily discussions back here. Comment for Day One on the Day Two posts here – http://angengland.com/write-a-list-post-build-a-better-blog-day-two/ Sorry about the confusion – I didn’t realize Examiner wouldn’t allow live links which sort of defeats the purpose. 🙂
Jill Browne says
Hey Angela,
Is there a way for us to put live links to our blogs in our comments on Examiner? If not, maybe the discussion would be better here, what do you think?
AngEngland says
I didn’t realize the comments wouldn’t allow live links. I’ve moved the discussion here because you’re right – live links and threaded commenting would make the conversation better. http://angengland.com/write-a-list-post-build-a-better-blog-day-two/ Day two! 🙂
Jill Browne says
Thanks, Angela! That’s very considerate of you and I appreciate it.
