My partner and I are new moms and were deeply touched by the story. I will post it on facebook periodically so that it doesn't get lost in the feed. In addition we'll also continue to donate on an ongoing basis. Posting the account balance and its milk supply equivalent is a great idea, as it quantifies the urgency of the situation.

@Elgie - I love that you are so actively donating extra milk to milk banks - it is SO important. This situation has made me vitally aware of how precious it can be for babies like Jaeli. I know Brandy is nursing and pumping as much as she can - so JAeli is receiving some milk directly, which as you mention is a huge benefit to her health and helps to prevent infections.

I do hope that this situation will make MORE women aware of the importance of donating to organizations like the HMBANA network of milk banks so they can provide as much milk as possible to these needy babies.

Blessings,
Angela <><

Hi my name is Elgie Tirado, I’m from Puerto Rico. I read the case of Jaelys and I want to recommend you to ask for donating human milk in your circle of friends and family. I know that always are good mothers that want to share their milk with others babies. I’m actually breastfeeding, I have been a breastfeeding mom for nearly 6 years and over that years I had donating my milk bank to babies that need them for different situations.
Here in my country there are so many mothers that like to donate their milk banks to babies like Jaelys. My other recommendation is that you try breastfeeding again, is not an easy job, but there is not better milk for Jaelys than that produce by your breasts. Your body is the only one that knows the needs of Jaelys, so your breast will produce the nutrients and antibodies that Jaelys needs. I have a little milk bank of 80oz. I think I’m so far to donate it to you, but if I can help you in other ways let me know it. I really want to help you. [Removed Personal Information]

Sounds like Jaeli's family could benefit from CaringBridge: http://www.caringbridge.org. I am a web designer with CaringBridge. I ran across this story because I am a breastfeeding mama and I have donated milk to a milk bank in the past. I hope it's helped babies like Jaeli.

The LeLeche League can help you to bring back your milk production for your baby. It might take a while to get it going but it is a very good way to get the milk you need for Jaeli.
