I think HubPages is a great way to supplement other online income streams and build backlinks. But I would urge people to carefully read their terms of service before signing up, especially if they are not a native English speaker. Many contributors have their accounts and articles deleted for not following the rules and for submitting poorly written articles.

I'm trying to use an editorial calendar, but once I've written, I suddenly feel like it's trying to tell me what to do, and then I rebel against it. The inner-teenager in me. I'm getting better though, especially since it looks like I'm about to move house. With all the stuff I'm going to have to do, it's nice to still have a plan for my blog (and it made me realise I have a lot more post ideas than I thought).

I created my own simple monthly planner (http://www.cookcleancraft.com/2012/01/free-printable-2012-monthly-planner.html) as I couldn't find anything that was just what I wanted. I think this is helping me stick to my plan (as silly as that sounds!).

Your tips about high CPC subjects and low traffic are spot-on. Sometimes topics with high cost-per-click do not attract enough traffic to make them profitable, whereas popular subject matter has the attraction factor and, over all, earnings are usually higher over the lifetime of the article.

Additionally your specific tips on the topics that might do well at Examiner.com are well taken.

When writing for any revenue-sharing site, it pays (literally) to study and develop a feel for which articles do best at which sites. An article that may sit and do very little at one sight, might generate higher revenues at another. Sites that allow for removal of articles offer flexibility to writers so that they can place them elsewhere, where they may potentially do better.

Maybe the trick then is to NOT make it a daily thing. Make it a weekly time where you spend 1 hour reading the latest industry news. Or even 2-3 hours reading the latest industry news. Make it a weekend habit that can be more easily interrupted by birthdays and day trips, leaving the rest of the week open for deadlines and posts that HAVE to go up at a specific time.

One thing I struggle with is staying current and learning. There is so much out there to learn but I feel so overwhelmed with the daily struggles that I don't take the time to sit and teach myself.

my biggest challenge is follow through. luckily, the 2 businesses i've recently started have me partnered with people that don't allow me to sit and be overwhelmed so i've actually finished what i've started. now i think my biggest challenge is going to be finding that balance between mom, wife and business owner.

Too funny that I should find this post on here right at this moment. I am actually launching a new website and decided to kick it off with a small giveaway. I am battling what I always battle - inertia. So instead of sitting around and hoping others would see the post, I decided to start networking with other mom bloggers I know to get the word out, and here I am reading your blog! This weekend, I plan on writing down a blog post schedule as well (another one of my issues). LOL

So, I'd truly love a copy of the book AND I would like to direct everyone to the first post and giveaway on my newest site at http://www.whatmommydoes.com/welcome-to-the-home-business-section/
